Outrage as Renowned South African DJ Killed in the Heart of Johannesburg.
A renowned South African radio and club DJ has been fatally gunned down in the country's largest city Johannesburg, sending shockwaves across a nation grappling with rampant crime.
Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was gunned down in the city centre on a Tuesday afternoon.
Officials stated the forty-year-old presenter was confronted by three suspects, with one began shooting at him before fleeing on foot.
The motive of the attack remains unclear and no arrests have taken place, according to authorities.
Details of the Attack
Police revealed that Stock was targeted as he was departing from a premises in the vicinity of the city center landmark.
He had devoted time at the site overseeing the setup of safety equipment, which had been illegally inhabited by squatters, according to reports.
"The report indicates the man was approached by three unidentified men after he parked his car, and they opened fire at him before fleeing the scene on foot," authorities confirmed.
Surveillance tape showed a man with dreadlocks and dressed in what looked like a protective services outfit shooting on Stock before fleeing.
The DJ tried to run away after he was hit but fell down a short distance away.
It was further revealed that Stock had an weapon on his person and it was not a robbery during the incident.
Important clues, like spent shells, were recovered from the scene.
