Paceman Gus Atkinson Exacerbates the English team's Fitness Concerns.

'Significant concern' for the touring side as Atkinson goes off with a hamstring injury.

The pace bowler further complicated the fitness woes of the England squad when he left the ground during Saturday's play of the Boxing Day Test versus the Australians.

Atkinson pulled up with his hamstring immediately following a delivery in his spell on Saturday.

The touring camp indicated Atkinson had experienced "tightness" and would spend time away from the action to undergo evaluation "over the next few hours".

The final Test of the tour beginning on 4 January begins this coming Sunday.

England have been without fast bowlers Mark Wood with a knee problem and Jofra Archer to a side strain on this Ashes tour.

A replacement bowler was brought into the squad as cover for Wood.

His form was underwhelming during the first two matches, managing only a handful of scalps.

He was left out for the Adelaide match, before being recalled for the Melbourne Test as Archer's replacement.

Atkinson improved at the MCG, bagging two scalps in Australia's first innings, and scoring 28 runs while batting as one of just three England players who passed ten runs.

Post a single over in Australia's second innings, he came back the next day and removed Scott Boland edging to the keeper.

Yet, on the final ball of the fifth over, he sent down a slower ball to Travis Head and suddenly grabbed for his hamstring.

Atkinson was brought back for the fourth Ashes Test after being left out the Adelaide game.
